IARU VHF 2008: Contest Feedback !
Sunday September 14th, 2008 – 09:23 AMHello,
This is a short feedback concerning our latest IARU VHF Contest.
Overall it was a great succes. We didn’t run into any major problem (we did break a mast but remeber “if you don’t break it’s not large enough
” ).
Conditions were just average.
We made mostly 600 QSO (589 without the 4 dupes) mostly to F, DL, G, PA an ON. Activity toward UK has improved over the last year and it was nice to work over 50 G stations.
We used 4 antennas stacks. The one toward G the most of the time was the same used for North Germany (4×6 elements DK7ZB) or some times a single 6 elements DK7ZB about 16 m high.
As you can see activity during the night time was slow as usual but I hope this will improve by the years.
We achieved about 245 000 points and hope to get into the European TOP 20 with this result. For the coming winter season we will work on the LNA, and additional antenna systems (we still use a 2×17 F9FT stack that is noisy compared to the DK7ZB).
We might be active for the next IARU UHF Contest but this is not shure at the time.
Thanks for the time you took working us. Each contact will be confirmed by QSL in the coming months.
73′s from the F8KTH Crew.
BTW we are looking for a Javornik 14/144 MHz transverter. If you have no use of yours please let us know.
